Conservatives are saying that the Federal Government is bad. In one sense, a strong Hamiltonian Federal bureaucracy can abuse authority if it is not closely monitored by a responsible and well educated and informed electorate. Perhaps by saying this government can't be controlled, the conservatives are inferring that the electorate is such a bunch of greedy selfish ignorant no-nothings that they can't be trusted with sensible oversight. Judging by the airwaves (outside the INTERNET) I sense they are probably correct. The answers to this would be to upgrade our educational, environmental, and nutritional/medical deficits inhibiting our populace. And yet this is the very infrastructure that is being hemmoragged in order pay for a deficit accumulated during the eighties for a vast tax cut to the rich (at the expense of the middle-class) and the development of (now technologically obsolete) vast armaments for deployment against a non-existent Soviet Empire.
So who gains from a weakened Federal government? Certainly not the wage serfs who know more about OJ and sports than the latest mathematical intricacies of the derivatives market their mutual fund is currently speculating on. Nor are they familiar with the sharp corporate money-crunchers slowly hijacking their pension while simultaneously preparing for a technologically induced down-sizing that will render them "redundant" in their fifties and a wage reduction that will thrust them on the wrong side of the income divide. Remember these are the same idiots who would rather use personal checks (loaded with uncoded personal data for anyone to see and steal at a cost of well over two hundred dollars a year due to hidden bank charges) and credit cards (at loan-shark interest rates.) With their government subsidized Social Security and mortgages, these ignorant arrogant fools have everything to lose as the last remnants of the New Deal are are savagely ripped from the body politic like bloody wisdom teeth.
So who is the real beneficiaries of the deregulation and disintegration fad fed to the masses by forces such as the secretly funded Gopacs, Heritage foundations, and other "institutes of dubious intellectual pedigree and propagandized by our five media-multinationals who have purchased many of our congressman like high-priced whores in order to directly write the next generation of telecommunication legislation?
It should be noted here that the upper middle-class, (income $80,000 to $250,000 a year) an automatic Republican constituency, will be hurt by new legislation inhibiting lawsuits against brokers. Now why would the Republican Party elite side with the financial superpowers (Such as Prudential which recently lost a multi-million class action suit) against a sizable and articulate minority made up five percent of the population with thirty-five percent of the nations wealth? For the same reason that they are support super-size banks and media conglomerates. To remove from local control, financial and media power to a corporate capital far away. All this while weakening the only instrument able to partially check at the vast reach of the international multinationals, the federal Government. Devolving civil authority down to the states and localities in effect shrinks their power and scope relative to the deep pockets and clout of the multinationals. This has the advantage of one stop campaign bribes from one supercorperation instead a gaggle of small competing companies and turns all the states and localities into a pack of dogs begging for jobs in exchange for lucrative tax cuts and infrastructure improvements at the expense of the local middle class. (Don't worry they'll pay for it in property taxes eventually unless they move away like Californians)
This leaves only true constancy to Republicans Those earning more than a million or so a year won't care about property taxes (It keeps those riff-raff earning under seven figures a year out of the neighborhood) or infrastructure (They can buy their own from personal security to private tutors.)
George Bush's New World Order was some obsolete Nazi inspired drivel that was as obsolete as the nation-state will become in the world of globe-spanning multinationals.
The real world order is the Modern Societie Global. That's Multinational Safe-Ground to you! And if you live in their coporate capitals of Singapore, Vancover, Perth, or Maui (Recently purchased by Japanese investment and property giants) things can be quite ritzy. However if your stuck in a multinational sweatfarm like Malidora, Guatamalea, Texas, Carolina, or LA (where they now have wage slaves not merely serfs in razor-wired steamy factories operating ?round the clock.) then you have to smart, healthy, and young to get by.
Sure in the MSG you can get by (Or buy!) if you have capital, (then you can hire someone smart.) or you're smart, (then you can get a job working for someone with capital) or lucky. (You can be born (or genetically designed) to someone with capital) Or you can move ahead of time to one those MSG safe areas before the electronic walls go up (To keep out the great "Unwashed", movement of JA People you all) and be grandfathered into their economic matrix.
