On the other hand, there's the upward pull - the force that lifts. We don't talk about this force; in fact, we have no name for it. But it is all around us. The upward pull is what holds the hawk so effortlessly circling among the clouds. It draws toddlers from their knees to their feet; it pulls an oak tree out of an acorn, up through the ground, into the sky.

Astrology's subject is the upward pull, that spirit in us which reaches for the stars.

Mood of the Moment

The many striking astrological events this month offer a singular message: "Go for it!...Take that leap!...Geranimo!"

The major energy shifts that we all share in November include a full moon in Taurus on the 7th which, if we imbibe the light of this exalted moon, will give us a sense of contentment with ourselves and our world never before possible.

Then on Saturday, November 11 [Sound the trumpets!] Pluto, our slowest moving planet, at last, leaves Scorpio, never to return in this lifetime. (She'll be back in 144 years.) Pluto's energy is volcanic - pushing things underground to the surface. Since November 1983, Pluto's influence has been felt in our collective dealings with sex, death and transformation. It's been an intense passage. But on the 11th, we'll begin feeling Pluto's force in a new way, a VERY new way - as it enters Sagittarius where it will remain for 12 years.

Sagittarius is a courageous sign. Charged with what the Hindus call "Divine Discontent," its urge is to "Go where no man has gone before." We will all begin to feel moved to explore new territory - both inner and outer.

And that's only the beginning. By the 23rd of this month, 7 out of 10 planets will be in Sagittarius! Not only that, as the spirit of exploration builds, Saturn, our last retrograde planet will finally pull up anchor and go direct on the 22nd.
