An artists reception is scheduled for the evening of June 29th at the Gimme! Coffee in Ithaca's west end for "Tiny Invasion," a collaborative art show that joins the paintings of local artist Evera Lovelace with accompanying poems by Daniel Adinolfi. The pair (they're husband and wife) will be on hand Wednesday from 5:30 - 7:30pm.
"Septapus" by Evera Lovelace. Image provided."I've been doodling in the margins for as long as I can remember," says artist Evera Lovelace, whose joy of art has been with her since she could hold a pencil. The native Ithacan studied art at Alfred University, Burren College of Art in Ballyvaughan, Ireland, and Vancouver Film School, in Vancouver, Canada. Even when two-dimensional and motionless, her artwork conveys a playful and often joyous animation.
Inspired by the first painting of the series, "Jellyfoot Angelbean," Daniel Adinolfi composed lyrics and poetry for each doodled character. The Cornell graduate and Lansing-based writer and technologist sought to bring out each character's mischievous side.
The exhibit at Gimme! ends this week, but Ms. Lovelace has a blog at everaart.blogspot.com featuring daily doodles. "I draw when I’m waiting for something or when I see something that has a cool shape," the artist says. "I bring my sketchbook and blue Col-Erase pencils with me everywhere I go."
