It may be a Monday night, but it's also New Year's Eve. Many folks are preparing tasty treats at home, including such locavore delicacies as Piggery cold cuts or pate, but still more are planning a night on the town with food, music, libations, or all of the above.

Plenty of restaurants are open, many serving special New Year's Eve menus. Maxie's Supper Club has two prix fixe menus lined up, and because it's Monday night, their weekly special, $10 off any bottle of wine, applies. Rogues' Harbor is open with a seasonal special menu. Just a Taste, which changes their menu nightly, is open. Taughannock Farms Inn, The Rose, Daño's, and Papa John's Pizza are all open for New Year's Eve, as well.
The Circus Truck is parked downtown in front of Lot 10 instead of their usual west end location tonight. If all you need is a snack, stop by the 7-11 in Collegetown, which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even over the holidays, as is Shortstop Deli. Don't miss our complete list of who's open and closed over the holidays.
After supper, there are lots of places to enjoy some music and ring in the New Year. Mahogany Grill, The Gates, and The Westy all have DJ nights planned with no cover charge, and Lot 10 is open with a $20 ticket price. There's also a Contra Dance party at the Bethel Grove community center.
Sim Redmond and Jen Middaugh kick off the live music this evening with an early show at Felicia's Atomic Lounge, from 6:30-8:30. As always, there's no cover at Felicia's, though tossing a few bucks in the tip jar is a nice thing to do. Jimkata is playing at the Haunt, and the Horse Flies will be playing at Agava.
Local government offices will be closed on New Year's Day. Trash and recycling pickup will be one day later than usual for the remainder of the week, so if your pickup is normally Tuesday, it will be Wednesday, and so on.
