This Friday night, Cinemapolis is hosting a fashion show of Rachael Reichert's collection of eco-fashion, along with a screening of "CyBelle Horizon," a short film featuring a cyborg exploring her consciousness.
The film features clothing from the new collection, says Rachael Reichert, a local clothing designer who studied fashion at Central Saint Martins in London. "The beginning of this project started with writing the short story of this film," the designer says. "Then, the designs of the clothing were inspired by different parts in the story."
"These clothes are made using eco and sustainable fabrics, such as organic cotton, hemp silk, and recycled rubber," says Reichert, who designs and produces one-of-a-kind items at her Downtown Ithaca studio. She says her outfits are a "chic, upscale alternative," for women "wanting to dress ethically without sacrificing style."
Models appearing in the film and in Friday's fashion show are local women. The collection of "black and white eco-fashion" reflects what Reichert calls the "dark, whimsical glamour aesthetic seen in my previous collections."
Tickets are available for $10 in advance at RachaelReichert.com or the Cinemapolis box office, or for $13 at the door. The show is at 9:30pm on Friday, August 2nd.
